The functional characteristic of Honda carburetor refers to the change of mixture composition with the amount of air flowing through Honda carburetor or the vacuum degree of throat. The Honda carburetor must provide combustible mixture with different air-fuel ratio for different working conditions of the engine.

When the engine is idling, the Honda carburetor shall provide the engine with a richer mixture with an air-fuel ratio of 10 to 12.4.

When the engine is running at medium speed, the Honda carburetor shall provide the engine with a lean mixture with an air-fuel ratio of 16 to 17.5.

When the engine is working at full load or high speed, in order to improve the flame propagation speed, the Honda carburetor provides a richer mixture with an air-fuel ratio of 12.6 to 13.5.

When starting, the Honda carburetor shall provide a richer mixture with an air-fuel ratio of 6.9, sometimes 3.



What is the throat of Honda carburetor?

The Honda carburetor changes the vacuum degree of the throat by changing the throat diameter to atomize gasoline and mix it with air in proportion for engine combustion. Honda carburetors can be divided into several types according to the different working methods of changing the throat diameter, including pull plunger carburetor, vacuum slide valve carburetor, butterfly valve carburetor, vacuum film carburetor, and constant speed carburetor commonly used in multi-cylinder machines.

The Honda carburetor drives the plunger to move up and down by rotating the throttle handle so as to change the diameter of the throat and adjust the vacuum in the throat to provide the engine with a certain air-fuel ratio of combustible mixture. The Honda carburetor generally has 5 to 6 subsystems or pipelines that each subsystem undertakes specific tasks, including float chamber system, idle speed and idle speed transition system, medium speed main oil supply system, high-speed full load system, acceleration pump system and enrichment system. Most carburetors have no acceleration pump system.



How to judge Honda carburetor fault?

The failure of Honda carburetor does hinder the starting of motorcycle. Generally, there are two situations. One may be that there is too much air entering the engine, but there is no gasoline entering. The other is that too much gasoline enters without air. No matter what happens, just check the dryness and wetness of the spark plug. If the spark plug is dry, it belongs to the former, while if it is wet it belongs to the latter. Then make further inspection according to the situation.

If the engine can still run, it is easier to determine the Honda carburetor fails. At this time, the Honda carburetor should be regarded as three carburetors, that are, idle carburetor, medium speed carburetor and high-speed carburetor. Determine the fault according to the throttle opening. If the Honda carburetor fault is 0 to 1 / 8 opening, overhaul the idle speed system. If the Honda carburetor fault is between 1 / 8 to 7 / 8 opening, the medium speed system should be overhauled. If the Honda carburetor fault is in the fully open state, the high-speed fuel injection system should be overhauled.
