Motorcycle sensor is convenient. However, its service life is limited. Proper use of the motorcycle sensor and frequent maintenance can help prolong its lifespan.

  • Why does the motorcycle sensor so widely apply?

How to maintain motorcycle sensors?

Every step deserves our attention when repairing motorcycle sensor to prevent fire or explosion. Remove the negative lead of the battery and use the flashing light instead of natural light to check the components and connectors of the fuel system. Before that, we need to release the pressure in the oil supply system to prevent fire caused by high pressure fuel spraying. Unplug the fuel pump relay or fuse, or unplug the fuel pump wire plug. Start the engine 2-3 times to ensure complete pressure relief. Reconnect the relay, fuse or wire. Then remove the veil or oil absorbing object, and finally retighten the pipe joint. After pressure relief, a small amount of fuel will leak out when repairing the fuel pipeline or connector. At this time, cotton yarn beads can be used to absorb the leaked fuel. During the whole procedure of repairing motorcycle sensors, all used sealing rings, gaskets shall be replaced with new ones to ensure no leakage between sealing parts of the oil supply system. Therefore, it is not allowed to disassemble the oil supply system before purchasing suitable replacement parts. Smoking is prohibited and sufficient ventilation shall be ensured to eliminate fuel vapor.

How to adjust motorcycle sensors?

Loosen the two fixing screws of the motorcycle sensor. Insert a gauge with a thickness of 0.35mm between the throttle screw and the rod, and measure the conduction of the idle switch with a multi-meter. Turn the throttle position sensor counter clockwise to disconnect the idle switch contact, and then slowly turn the motorcycle sensor until the switch is closed. Tighten the two fixing screws of the motorcycle sensor. Insert gauges with thickness of 0,30mm and 0.40mm respectively between the throttle screw and the rod and measure the conduction of the idle switch at the same time. When the thickness gauge is 0.30mm, the idle switch shall be turned on.

Why does the motorcycle sensor so widely apply?

Motorcycle sensor is to measure the oxygen content in the exhaust gas and determine whether the mixture burns completely and whether the air-fuel ratio is normal. When the actual air-fuel ratio becomes higher, the oxygen concentration in the exhaust will increase. At this time, the motorcycle sensor will increase the quantity of fuel injection. When the air-fuel ratio is lower, the oxygen concentration in the exhaust decreases, and the oxygen sensor will accurately control the emissions of compounds in the exhaust through feedback the results to the ECU. It can also make up for the error of air-fuel ratio caused by other parts of the system, so it is an important sensor.
