Fuel consumption is an important performance index of motorcycle. Suzuki carburetor is the key part of motorcycle fuel supply system. Whether the Suzuki carburetor is in good condition is very important to the fuel consumption of the whole vehicle. Reducing fuel consumption is also the continuous pursuit goal of carburetor manufacturers.

  • How to judge the fuel consumption of Suzuki carburetor?

  • What are the causes of high fuel consumption of Suzuki carburetor?

  • How to deal with the water if the Suzuki carburetor doesn’t use?

How to judge the fuel consumption of Suzuki carburetor?

The general law of actual driving fuel consumption of Suzuki carburetor is that two-stroke is higher than four-stroke, large displacement is higher than small displacement, and automatic clutch is higher than manual clutch.

In addition, the fuel consumption varies with the structure of the Suzuki carburetor. The specific value of Suzuki carburetor shall be determined according to the specific vehicle model. For the more common domestic models at present, the fuel consumption of two-stroke 50 vehicles is about 3L/100km, that of four-stroke 70 ~ 100 vehicles is less than 2L/100km, that of four-stroke 125 vehicles is about 2L/100km, and that of four-stroke 70 ~ 125 scooters is about 3L/100km. Users can generally judge whether their Suzuki carburetor has high fuel consumption.

What are the causes of high fuel consumption of Suzuki carburetor?

The starting concentration device in the Suzuki carburetor is not tightly closed. This fault mainly occurs on the bypass enrichment device. The electrothermal bypass enrichment device fails. There is card jamming during the extension of the starting plunger. Poor return of the starting plunger of the manual bypass enrichment device will cause the starting plunger to fall to the bottom, resulting in poor operation of the engine with too rich mixture.

For Suzuki carburetor equipped with electrothermal starting enrichment device, replace the electrothermal starting enrichment valve. For vehicles equipped with manual enrichment device, it is generally caused by excessive friction between the enrichment cable and its shell after long-term use. It can be solved by coating butter or other lubricating oil on the surface of the enrichment cable.

The outer diameter of the main oil needle of Suzuki carburetor decreases and the wear of the main nozzle hole is too large. The parts are worn by the high-speed scouring of impurities contained in gasoline for a long time during use, which reduces the outer diameter of the main oil needle of Suzuki carburetor and increases the main nozzle hole of Suzuki carburetor, resulting in an increase in oil supply and fuel consumption.

How to deal with the water if the Suzuki carburetor doesn’t use?

For motorcycles that have been out of service for a long time, the water vapor in the air will gradually condense in the oil tank due to expansion when heated and contraction when cooled.

Water is heavier than gasoline, and more condensed water vapor will eventually settle to the bottom of the oil tank. Once there is water in the Suzuki carburetor, the motorcycle becomes difficult to start.

After the Suzuki carburetor is flooded, there are two reasons why the motorcycle is difficult to start. One is that the Suzuki carburetor is sucked out of water and isn’t ignited by the spark plug. The other is that the spark plug is wetted by the water mist sucked into the cylinder. The porcelain column of the spark plug electrode is no longer insulated, and the electrode cannot discharge normally.

If the oil drain screw is loosened in time, the accumulated water in the Suzuki carburetor is discharged. Suzuki carburetor is supplemented with some fresh gasoline, the start will be smoother.

Therefore, for motorcycles that have been parked for a long time, it is best to drain the old gasoline in the Suzuki carburetor and inject some fresh gasoline before starting.
